The Royal Varuna Yacht Club supports our youth sailors from the moment they complete an RYA Stage 2 (formally beginners) course with FREE training available on most weekends. The training is split into three groups depending on sailor ability and is available for Stage 2 graduates all the way to sailors who are training for international competitions and the THA team. The RVYC has the best coaches to support youth sailor development and provide opportunities to flourish in a very structured training environment. The training is only available to RVYC members.
Three youth training groups:
GO SAILING A fun and exciting group open for youth sailors who already completed RYA Stage 2 course and want to progress by gaining more on-water experience.
OPTIMIST & LASER RACING For youth sailors who have completed the RYA Start Racing course. The coaching is focussed on advanced racing skills in order to participate at club, national and international regattas. Training is led by National Racing Coaches. Two groups; Optimist Racing and Laser Racing.
Future Cup: A quarterly competition for RVYC Optimist Sailors. Once a sailor has won the Future Cup they can no longer participate in future editions and aimed toward those who are relatively new to racing.
Youth racing events schedule (national/regional/international): The RVYC promotes sending our youth sailors outside the club to participate in local/regional/international regattas.
