Royal Varuna Yacht Club opens its membership to all nationalities. Sail, swim, dine and belong, from Pratamnak, Pattaya.

Membership types

Six types, from families and singles to companies, visitors, juniors and members living overseas.

Voting rights

Ordinary Family

  • Any person may apply.
  • Your spouse joins without an additional entrance fee, but pays the monthly subscription.
  • On the death of the member, the spouse may continue without additional entrance fees.
  • Ordinary Members have voting rights.
Reduced fees

Ordinary Single

  • For a person without spouse or dependent children, or whose spouse and children will not use club facilities.
  • Reduced entrance fee and monthly subscription.
  • Converts to Ordinary Family on acquiring a spouse or family, or when they want to use the facilities (the fee difference is paid).
  • Single Members have mostly the same rights as Ordinary Members.
Visitors to Thailand

Temporary

  • Any foreign national not resident in Thailand.
  • Maximum duration is 6 months.
  • THB 8,700 per month, paid in advance for the selected period.
  • Same service rates as Ordinary Members.
  • Must apply for Ordinary Membership after the permitted period.
  • No voting rights.
For companies

Corporate

  • Any company. No joining fee.
  • Five corporate membership cards per company.
  • Each card up to 30 visits a year; 150 day visits a year in total across the five cards.
  • Cards may be used by different employees and need not be assigned to one individual.
  • Each visit is used like a family membership: employees may bring family members or guests.
  • Two company functions or events hosted at the club each year (services and catering charged separately).
  • No voting rights.
Aged 10 to 25

Junior

  • May use club facilities, with a usage fee of THB 300 per visit.
  • May not bring parents or guardians as guests.
  • Must convert to Ordinary Membership at age 25.
  • No voting rights.
Living outside Thailand

Absent

  • For anyone unable to use the club regularly due to residence outside Thailand.
  • THB 27,000 fee on approval.
  • Monthly subscription is suspended during the absent period (other fees, such as storage, remain payable).
  • Annual maintenance fee equal to one month’s full membership if the membership is not activated during the year.

Payment is annually in advance. Future payments are by direct debit from a bank account or automatically deducted from a credit card, whichever is more practical.

How to apply

Joining in six steps

Based on the club’s membership application notice.

  1. Complete the membership application form and attach two passport-size photographs.
  2. Meet the Membership Secretary.
  3. Use the club facilities for one month while the application is pending General Committee approval (the regular guest fee applies during this period).
  4. The General Committee considers the application at its monthly meeting.
  5. On approval you receive your membership card and the club by-laws.
  6. Boat owners can request a rack space from the General Manager.
